As part of “The Team Voltron of Radelaide” we entered the 48 Hour Film Project for 2016. The goal was to write, film and edit a short film in 48 hours. As part of the competition we were given the genre “Period Piece”, had to include a prop, which was a post it note and had to include the line of dialogue “I wish I’d thought of that”.

Our team came up with the short film “Flight from Defender 1985”. All up we had about 40 people on our team across three school campuses. The Academy of interactive Entertainment where we did the animation and visual effects, SAE Creative Media Institute Adelaide who did the sound design and Ann Peters School of Acting who did the voice over work.

The modeling, rigging and texturing of the characters was made before the project started similar to hiring real actors but the writing, animation, lighting, texturing, rendering and compositing were all done within the 48 hours. That’s approximately 57 shots in 48 hours!

Below is a selection of work I did for the project.
