My first animated short film and my first ever attempt at animation. I was at university studying film making and had struggled with making live action short films. I had no money for actors, sets, props, locations or anything real films had. As a result far too many compromises had to be made and I was never quite happy with the results. On a whim I decided to try animation. I figured if I wanted any outlandish sets or props I could simply make them in small scale using anything I had handy. With zero experience or knowledge about animation I threw myself in the deep end and produced this four minute short film. Using clay, paper, cardboard, a few desk lamps for lighting and a lot of frustration I came up with an admittedly very angsty story and the result was Life in Clay. Shot from start to finish in about a month It was my final film project for university.

Its an experimental stop motion film about a little clay blobs journey through life. From birth all the way to the real world.

A cute, strange and a little gory walk cycle I did one day for a bit of fun.
